Phillip Watson, Ph.D.
Phil studied for his first degree in Sports and Exercise Science, and an MSc in Sports Nutrition, before completing a PhD in Exercise Physiology at Loughborough University, UK. Phil's primary research interests lie in understanding the development of fatigue occurring during prolonged exercise, including marathon and ultra-endurance race events. Nutrition underpins the fundamental basis of this work, with scope to manipulate performance, and the physiological response to exercise, through changes to food and fluid intake as well as the provision of some dietary supplements. In addition to contributing to understanding the physiology of fatigue, this work has important implications for race medicine.
