P.Z. Pearce, MD

 

P.Z. Pearce is owner of CHAMPIONS Sports Medicine in Spokane, Washington and Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine for the University of Washington.  He is National Medical Director for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathons, and Tri Rock Triathlon Series.  He has also served as Medical Director of the Bloomsday Run in Spokane, Washington; Ironman 70.3 Hawaii; and Assistant Medical Director of the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon World Championship.  He is a National Team Physician for USA Triathlon, and was a member of the 1996 U.S. Olympic Medical Staff in Atlanta.

Dr. Pearce has over 29 years of experience in all aspects of athletic medicine.  He is Team Physician for the Spokane Chiefs Hockey Club, and for 15 years worked with the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL.  He has been involved with numerous athletic events, including the 1984 / 1988 Olympic Cycling Trials, and the 2007 / 2010 U.S Figure Skating National Championships.

Dr. Pearce attended the University of Hawaii before receiving Bachelor’s degrees in Physiology and Psychology at the University of Washington.  He completed his M.D. at UW, and then moved to Spokane for Family Medicine Residency.  His post-graduate training includes studying at the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital in London.  He has been the Training Section Editor for Current Sports Medicine Reports, and is currently co-chairman of the Ironman Triathlon Sports Medicine Conference, held at the World Championships each year.
