What Does it Mean to be a Member of the IIRM?

The primary purpose of the IIRM is to serve the interests of medical directors and those interested in race medicine.  With the explosive growth of marathons and road races throughout the work, IIRM has evolved into an international membership association that represents a broad based constituency of healthcare professionals.

Membership in IIRM offers you, your volunteer medical staff and your event access to a wealth of medical and logistical information as it relates to road race medicine. As a collective group, we are striving to ensure the safety of road races throughout the world, while at the same time developing the standards of care that are missing within this industry. The IIRM recognizes that professional development is one of the key reasons that many events and individuals become members. To this end, one of IIRM's primary focuses is the professional development of its members.

Through our video presentations and information sharing, we provide education and proven techniques for designing medical coverage programs for all types of large scale athletic events.  This information is designed not only for the medical directors, but for all medical volunteer staff, EMS professionals and your supporting hospitals.
